How long/what is 16 bars a capella?
I am Auditioning for an Art school, and on the required list of audition materials, it says,” The Applicant must sing 16 bars a capella”…. What does that mean, how long is it, and what song would be best for me to sing

Your ending remark makes me worry for you! 16 bars is equal to 16 measures, which would be about a verse of a song. A capella means that you will be singing with out any accompaniment (instruments, background music, etc.). So if you are not a good singer-you might want to start practicing now because you will want to be on rhythm and pitch in order to nail that audition. Best of luck to you. If you really want it, you will do fine.
