Ase First
i wasnt sure were to put this question but here we go.?

i have been working as an automotive technician for the past 5 years since i got out of highschool and at first i liked it, have spent alot of time getting ASE certs. and many other certs. but no matter what i feel like i keep getting screwed around i only get payed $12 an hour and i know people making that at fast food resturants. but its like evey day i go into work that becomes the worst day of my life. with that info in mind do you guys think i should just go try working at another repair facility or just get out of the business (also all the older techs tell me to get out of the business cause there is no money in it anymore) if you think i should get out any ideas on a career path i should take. granite i dont have any formal training in any feild but auto repair i am pretty much a jack of all trades and i think i would like to spend more time outside then i get to. any help is much apreciated, thank you. if you need more info about me to help find me a new career just ask

For sure, leave that place, but secure another job first. Techs make more at a dealer (if you are reasonably quick) so check out dealerships in your area. Get on the net and look into being a jet-engine mechanic. If you are mechanical and can handle working indoors then aim for computers; big bucks and they’re the future, as we all know. Whatever you do be sure to sign up at your community college and take night classes in something to aid you gain knowledge and/or a higher salary (computers my brother) but don’t tell an employer you’re going to school, for the obvious reasons. I have a feeling you’ll be doing much better sooner than you think! Best of luck. Mike the mechanic.
