I want to show how the discovery of gold and the gold rush lead to a multicultural Australia.
Do you think that this is true, or that something else caused a multicultural Australia.
Maybe the gold rush started mlticulturalism because of the immigration of chinese and others, and some stayed? what do you guys think?

There was a big influx (relative to our existing population) of Chinese during the gold rush, it was one of the causes of tension between miners and authorities as some believed they shouldn’t be allowed in.
And yes most of them stayed. They were Australia’s first non-white immigrants after 1788. It’s the main reason nearly every country town of any size in Vic and NSW has had at least one Chinese restaurant since the early 20th century
