About Military Coins

Challenge coins were used by the military to keep up  the morale of the service men, and corporations a organizations have always used challenge coins as a  special award to their employees and members. Whether they were used as military coins or awards in industry to increase productivity they let the recipients feel that he or she is appreciated by their superiors.

As military coins, the challenge coins were used for many years as awards for military men that have conquered an obstacle or other situation. Challenge coins were used as a form of identity in the military showing the platoon or regiment that a soldier belonged to.

The custom challenge coins started out as military coins and now they are used awards by groups worldwide. In order to make a person feel appreciated and enable them to continue to do a good job, companies and organizations award their employees and members with a challenge coin. Appreciation generally brings with it a bond and loyalty by the employee or member of an organization. The award of a challenge coin can be given for perfect attendance, producing work in a timely manner, being a helpful employee and for being a good team player. There is no limit to the reasons for awarding a challenge coin.

In addition to being used as military coins, and corporations and organizations, the challenge coins is also being used by scout groups for merit, church groups use them to award the highest fund raisers, volunteers and more, and schools use them for good behavior and excellent attendance and so many more people are using challenge coins. Receiving a challenge coin makes the recipient feel as he or she is an important part of a big family.

Coin collecting has always been a popular hobby, but there is now more interest in collecting challenge coins. These coins can be found at yard sales, garage sales, flea markets and occasionally you will find one in a thrift store.  Many of the branches of the military are still using challenge coins.

They have been issued as military coins by the Air Force, Army, Navy and the Marine corp. You will also find challenge coins that have been issued to Fire Fighters, Fire Department and others and to others in public service. .
