For a unique family day out, visit the Park Las Aquilas and head to the Jungle Park. There is a good selection of animals as you’d expect in any zoo, but the park is especially recommended for fans of big cats, penguins and exotic birds of prey. You can’t go on holiday to Tenerife without visiting Parque Nacional Las Canadas del Teide. To see Tenerife’s most famous landmark, visit Mount Teide – an active volcano. Not only are the views from the mountain breathtaking, there are also coach tours around the mountain for you to explore. You can even cook potatoes by the heat of the volcano!
Believe it or not, Tenerife’s waters are home to whales and dolphins. Consider going on a boat trip to try and spot some of these fantastic creatures – it will definitely make your late holiday deals worthwhile. There are numerous tours, boats and catamarans from either Los Cristianos or Puerto Colon harbour which will take you a few miles off the coast of the island. Here you will hopefully see whales and dolphins up close.
In the ocean surrounding Tenerife you’ll find exotic marine life. Once you’ve had some snorkelling or diving training and been kitted out, you will be able to see all kinds of sea life including starfish, crabs and rays enjoying their natural habitat. There is a huge coral reef here, that is known to be home to some fantastic varieties of marine life, so it’ll be an experience that you’ll always remember.
