The Toronto Maple Leafs is one of the original six teams in the National Hockey League (NHL). The huge fan base of the team was the reason behind the high Leafs tickets sales since they started. The fans have the right to clamor about since the Toronto Maple Leafs have won 13 championships. They also have won 11 Stanley Cups. However, the team has not won a Stanley Cup since 1967. The new millennium was marked by the team transferring to a new arena. With the move, the Leafs won their first division title in 37 years. In 2003-2004, it was as if the team has made a comeback by getting the fourth best record in the league. They have attained a 0.628 win average which was the best they had in 43 years.
In 2008, the Leafs hired Brian Burke, the first American General Manager in team’s history. Burke traded Seguin and Knight to get Kessel from the Boston Bruims. Burke again made a trade now with the Calgary Flames with Hagman, Stajan and Mayers for Sjostrom, Aulie and Phanef in 2010. They also acquired Versteeg from the Chicago Balckhawks for Stalberg, DIDomenico and Paradis. These has been done to end the winning drought that the Leafs is experiencing.
