Value of Platinum and Gold plated leaves?
I am told that my great grandfather was the very first person to ever plate leaves with gold and platinum. We have boxes and boxes of these leaves. We were wondering about how much they would be? Or what we would do with all of them.
Some have said that they are even museum worthy, if they even are the very first plated leaves.
I am very curious. I’ve done google searches and have found nothing.
There are two possibilities.
a] burn off the leaves to reclaim the precious metal. You will not make a fortune.
b] write up some brief notes about what you know about what your great-grandfather actually did and the details of the specimens, and offer them to a museum that is liable to be interested. This is a much better alternative and at least some of these interesting items should be preserved. They have been safely kept for many years.
I would possibly recommend some places to contact, but unfortunately you don’t say which of the 26 countries at the bottom of my Answers page you are writing from. No good recommending English museums if you are in the US or Canada!
