In the 1st stage, the Commission has received an approval to contact a foreign operator to operate a betting programme for pony races abroad. Europe has one or two horse racing gambling operators – in France, Sweden, Britain and other states. Gamblers can bet at local stands, on their personal computers through the operator’s website or on the phone. Gamblers can collect the prize money immediately after the race. One of the operators the Israeli Commission has approached is French firm PMU, that has been active since 1931, has 11,000 outlets in France, a gambling website and a gambling telefone service. The company, which is active in lots of states, offers a wide variety of pony races happening in France, Japan, the U. S. and Australia. France’s horse racing betting industry generates some 9 bill (about $12.5 bill) a year. After the Commission signs an understanding with the foreign operator, it'll have to translate the races, set up gambling outlets and adjust its site and payment arrangements. Estimates predict, Israelis will be able to start gambling on pony races within one year. The minimum bet amount is anticipated to stand at NIS 10 (2, $2.85), similar to the global cost. Gamblers may win as much as tens of thousands of euros for one single bet.
