Ingot Mold
precious metal refining?

I have about 5 pounds of old junk silver coins that are worthless at face value but are all 0.900 silver. I have an old lead melter and ingot molds from my dad and was wondering what to do to refine the coins after i melt them and try to make silver bars out of them.

Just so you know, most US silver coins contain 90% silver and 10% copper, but sterling silver is 92.5% silver. The link will give you a silver melt value for US and Canadian coins, but melting them will not increase their value. Coin dealers will give you a certain percentage of the melt value, or more if you have any coins of value. You might try eBay as well. Also, precious metals are measured in troy ounces which are 31.1034768 grams, and there are 12 troy ounces in a troy pound. I hope that helps.
