I am attempting to make granola & i need a bit of help?
i dont have real maple syrup, could i use honey?
also, can i add dried fruit even tho the recipe doesnt call for it? or will that change the baking time/temp?
heres the recipe i am using. . . is there anything else i should do?
Maple Granola
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees:
Dump into a big bowl, and stir until the oats are evenly coated:
10 cups rolled oats
1 tsp salt
1 1/4 cup real maple syrup
As with the other granolas I posted about, spread it all out on a
large cookie sheet and bake for 30 minutes, taking it out every five
minutes to stir it around, and keep it in an airtight container
shortly after taking it out of the oven, so it stays very crunchy.
Oh, homemade granola…..I love it! And it’s so good for you, and the best part is you KNOW what’s in it.
To answer your question: Yes, you certainly can substitute honey for the syrup (my recipe calls for honey). Also, yes, you can add dried fruit and/or nuts. It shouldn’t require an alteration to the cooking time or temperature, since the fruit is dried instead of fresh.
