what are the taxes on a golden eagle?
Does anyone know if it’s true that you don’t have to pay Capital Gains tax on Gold, Silver, and Platinum Eagles? I know some States charge it and some don’t, and I think there is no Federal Capital Gains on it. I’m not sure on how it all works. Anyone know if the state of Virginia would charge Capital Gains tax on Gold Eagles, even if there was no Federal Capital Gains tax on it?
Thanks, I know this is a tough question but a clear thorough answer would be highly appreciated.
I’m nearly positive I read somewhere in the IRS documentation that coin collections are taxed at 28%.
