Ronald Reagan

Galesburg Illinois Real Estate

Galesburg is a unique family-friendly community in Illinois less than one hour west of Peoria, IL and fifteen minutes from Dahinda. Galesburg homes are within commuting distance of Peoria, but are also close to wilderness recreational areas such as Oak Run for those who appreciate the great outdoors. Oak Run is a great resort for camping, fishing and boating on Spoon Lake, golfing, and other outdoor activities – and it’s only half an hour away from Galesburg.

Galesburg was known as a strongly anti-slavery as a community since it was founded by a Presbyterian minister in the early 1800s, and was one of the original stop on the Underground Railroad. There have been a number of famous people who have lived in the town of Galesburg, including President Ronald Reagan, an NFL player, a congressman, a governor, and even the inventor of the Ferris wheel!

With a population of 33,000 in the 2000 Census, Galesburg has both the friendliness of a small town and the space of a larger town. There are approximately 17 square miles of land in Galesburg, with plenty of outlying properties where home buyers can purchase larger Galesburg lots or land and build their own family home.

The Galesburg economy has been tied closely to the railroad since a group of local businessmen lobbied for the Chicago-Quincy railroad connection in the mid-1800s. The education system is strong in the town, with Carl Sandburg Community College conveniently located as a great choice for secondary education as the kids get older.

Families will appreciate the many local events, such as an annual model railroad exhibit that is one of the largest in the country, a Stearman airplane fly-in, the Great Cardboard Boat Regatta, the Annual Rubber Duck Race at Lake Storey, and much more. Because of the diverse economy and real estate market, the area remains a great location for investment in Galesburg real estate.

Title aside, we’ll never see the likes of Tupac Shakur again. The late rap superstar was a complex, contradictory figure and, throughout the course of this riveting documentary, it’s as if he’s back in our world again. Produced by his mother, former Black Panther Afeni Shakur, Tupac Resurrection isn’t so much “biased” as it’s subjective. In the MTV film, accompanied by a book and soundtrack, direc…

The Killers (1964) [VHS]

$14.98

As with its 1946 predecessor of the same title and directed by noir maestro Robert Siodmak, this version of The Killers makes much ado out of Ernest Hemingway’s classic short story of two hit men who shake up a diner while looking for their prey. Hemingway’s sketch took up perhaps the first six minutes of Siodmak’s film, and everything after that was an add-on. This 1964 remake (of sorts) by Don S…
