Can an anaerobic digester be made on a small scale?
I am trying to make a science project which is a anaerobic digestor which consists of heating decomposed food scraps to create methane which will turn a generator to make electricity. But I don’t know if it is possible to make one on a small scale. Please help!
Yes, you can make them at laboratory scale.
If you are handling stale food please be very careful to follow strict hygiene rules, and that you do not catch anything from the food!
I reviewed one of three ebooks about exactly this subject and put the video on YouTube not long ago.
The Methane Guide is probably the best for you. Another is called the “Complete Guide to Building and Operating a Small Family Digester”, but look at them all to see which is most useful for you.
I made the video because quite a few people have been asking this question of me recently. The ebooks are really cheap so this will not cost you a great deal of money, but you will need to pay a small amount of money for any of these ebooks that you decide you want.
Unfortunately, I don’t know of any free books that cover this subject.
