Silver Deer
can you hunt in the state of california with silver tip bullets?

im going deer hunting in zone d11 d15 d13 i am aware of the ledless bullet law and was wondering if i could hunt with silver tip bullets?

Silver Tips are Nosler Ballistic Tip bullets that Winchester markets and adds the moly coat to them;so they do have lead in them. If you are in a lead free zone ammo loaded with Barnes bullets, Nosler / Winchester E-Tip,Hornady GMX, are what you can choose from. My friends and I have used Barnes bullets with great success, and I hear good things about the others. The Winchester and Hornady factory loads seem to be better priced (near $40 a box). I hand load, and suggest that is an alternative to expensive factory ammo. You can get a Lee reloading kit for around $100.dies for $30,few extra things and then bullets and powder. With the need for non-lead bullets and/or cartridges like WSMs,Weatherby and Ultra-Mags it sure would pay for itself quickly.

EDIT: D13 and D11 look like they are in the non-lead zone for sure. See link below.
