Tin Exotic
Why is a wonderful British fruit, the blackcurrant, not for sale in tins in the major supermarkets.?

Asda is the only super market to sell blackcurrants in tins!! There are mangos, lychees. papaya, gooseberries, pinapples, peaches, mandarins and other exotic fruits but no humble blackcurrant. What happens to them all?

I buy them here in Canada, but there not from the U.K, there in glass jars from Hungary, it is likely due to the production, my chef friends in the UK whom I visit on a regular basis, do get fresh ones in season, most of the ones grown are used for jam production and it is from what I was told in the Covent Garden market buy a shopkeeper and large scale crop, the dried ones in the shops used for scones, christmas cakes and other pastries are grown and dried from country’s like Turkey and Australia, I used to get boxes and bags from South Africa.
