do top quality dog brands have more flavour?
i am switching from pedigree to possibly innova and i want to stop on the wet food for flavour as well. do top brands have more flavour than crap foods? or will it have less flavour due to lack of colours, preservatives etc?
A healthy dog is always hungry. Flavor is not much of an issue, but smell is important. However, you rarely need to encourage a dog to eat.
So, I tend to feed my dog dry dog food with the best quality ingredients listed on the package, for the lowest price. Canidae is high quality, but I have even found that some premium Purina brands work just fine.
The important thing is to make sure that your dog is not overweight, in fact studies have shown that a dog on the lean side of normal – from eating a little less food than they want – can live an average of two years longer.
So, my suggestion is to read the list of ingredients on the package… and you won’t have to be concerned about flavor.
